Babarro González, Xoan

Xoán Babarro was born in Calvelo de Maceda (Ourense). As a child he attended two schools, one for singing the multiplication table and one for singing with the frogs and crickets. He thus learned to read in books and in the colors of the field. When he grew up he became a teacher and thought that the two schools could merge into one. And he started writing stories. He was awarded the “O Barco de Vapor” award in 1985 and 1989, and has not stopped publishing since then. He has works translated into Catalan, Chinese, Korean, Greek and Portuguese.
