Patxi Zubizarreta was born in the Basque Country in 1964. As a child, he was a little chubby and had a great weakness for sweets. For a while, he imagined becoming a pastry chef or a teacher, but he soon discovered his passion for writing—and has never stopped since.

A highly regarded author of children’s and young adult literature, Zubizarreta has received numerous literary awards throughout his career. Yet, as he often suggests, his greatest achievement is being able to make a living from literature and share his stories with readers.
