MABEL PIÉROLA (Madrid, 1953-Granada, 2024) studied Fine Arts in Madrid and in Barcelona. She was a teacher of Plastic Arts and a prominent Spanish illustrator and children’s book author. Known for her vivid, expressive illustrations, she contributed to various classic tales and original stories. Her works often focus on themes of childhood, imagination, and growth, making her a well-loved figure in the field of children’s literature. She also played a significant role in promoting reading for children and young adults. Along her career she won several awards and nomination including twice the Apelꞏles Mestres, the Catalan National illustration Award, SM Foundation International award and IBBY mentions, among others.
