Elena is at her uncle’s house in a small countryside village for a few days where she doesn’t know anyone. Her uncle is a beekeeper, he loves bees but, Elena is afraid of them. At the village, time passes between the stories told by her uncle about his great love, Amelia who recently passed away, as well as, the discovery of the truly fascinating bees’ world (its perfect internal organization, its environment function, its shocking reproduction ceremonies…), and a strong-growing friendship with the only boy in the village, Ambrose. The amazing talent the boy has with bees, his personal manners, so different from the city boys she is used to, makes Elena realize she has unexpected feelings towards him.
Maybe love is what Plato suggests: happiness for the good ones, thoughts of the wise and astonishment of the skeptical.
Mónica Rodríguez nació en Oviedo, España (1969) y reside en Madrid desde 1993. Es licenciada en Ciencias Físicas, con Máster en Energía Nuclear. Durante quince años trabajó en un centro de investigación, el Ciemat. En 2003 publica su primer libro infantil. En 2009 deja el trabajo en dicho centro para dedicarse por entero a la Literatura Infantil y Juvenil. Tiene publicados algo más de sesenta libros. Ha recibido numerosos premios y reconocimientos, entre los que se destacan el Premio Ala Delta, el Premio Anaya, el Premio Alandar, el Gran Angular o el Premio Fundación Cuatrogatos en cinco ocasiones. En 2018 se le otorgó el premio Cervantes Chico de Literatura Infantil y Young adult a su trayectoria, que también ha sido reconocida con el premio María Elvira Muñiz 2021 de la Feria del libro de Gijón.
