EL LAZARILLO CONTADO A LOS NIÑOS

Lázaro de Tormes is a town crier in Toledo: he walks the streets announcing things for sale, things which have been lost, or whatever he is told to announce. A lady asks to be informed in writing about the life of the archpriest of Saint Salvador, servant and friend, who lives in Toledo. In order to inform the lady, Lázaro explains his own life from the beginning up to the moment she is interested in: his relationship with the archpriest of Saint Salvador.
