Samuel, who goes by the name Campbell, is a red-headed boy who stutters and is just about to turn ten years old. He desperately wants to have a party on his birthday but Dimas, an older boy, has set out to ruin his plans. His grandmother, a plump, loving woman who brings him doughnuts when she comes to collect him from school, protects Campbell, although she occasionally makes things more complicated. His friend Mohammed also looks out for him and helps him to untangle the mystery of the German friend that his grandmother keeps hidden. Meanwhile, his parents are not paying attention to anything. The events of the month before Campbell’s birthday will change the lives of everyone in the family.
