Biography
Gómez Cerdá, Alfredo
He was born in Madrid. His childhood was that of a neighborhood boy. He played in the street with his friends and loved riding his bike. Since he discovered the magic of books, of reading, he also began to write. His beginnings are linked to theater, with forays into cinema and comics. In 1983, he published his first book. Author difficult to pigeonhole due to the different registers he uses. His work is a dialogue with himself and with life. He does not renounce the magical, the prodigious, the incredible, the games with the absurd, the nonsense, the humor. He has received some awards and recognitions: Premio Altea, Lazarillo, El Barco de Vapor, Il Paese dei Bambini (in Italy), ASSITEJ-España (theater), Fray Luis de León, Gran Angular, Ala Delta, White Raven (Germany) in six times, Premio Hache, Anaya, Cuatrogatos (Miami)... In 2008 he was awarded the Cervantes Chico award for his literary career and in 2009 he won the National award for Children's and Young People's Literature. In 2018 he was chosen as a Spanish candidate for the prestigious international “Hans Christian Andersen” and ALMA (Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award) awards. His books are published in several countries in Europe (France, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Denmark), Asia (Turkey, Lebanon, China, Korea, Japan) and America (Canada, United States, Mexico, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, Chile, Argentina). He plans to write until he turns 137. No more. More information about the author on his website: www.almezzer.com
