La Celestina is a tragic love story. After a falcon escapes, a dashing knight, in its pursuit, enters a garden and sees a beautiful young girl with whom he falls madly in love; this is how this story begins. Its pages are inhabited by a unique character: the cunning and wicked Celestina, matchmaker and sorceress whose evil arts and knowledge of human nature are behind much of the twisted plot. Between two fortuitous events, a masterfully constructed plot develops written in natural, elegant language with contrasting nuances and registers.
